HISTORYLe Antighe

“Le Antighe” is the name of the stream and also of the property where the first vineyards were planted, under the current cellar.

The “Le Antighe” winery was founded in 1969 by Angiolino Gallicani with his sons Antonio and Carlo, when the first vineyards were planted in Montemanulo.

The family moved from Pieve di Cusignano, where they were sharecroppers, to Montemanulo because Angiolino (grandfather of Alberto and Angelo) appreciated good wine and for this reason he bought the grapes to produce wine from a winegrower who had vineyards near the “Sanctuary of Maria delle Grazie” in Montemanulo.

A further reason for moving to the hills was precisely the presence of the sanctuary and the strong devotion of the family to the Virgin Mary.

They started with a 2-hectare vineyard, then given the good sales (customers were curious to taste the new wine from the hills) they planted more and more hectares. Over the next three years, another 5 hectares of vineyards were added.

New vineyards in the mid-70s, and reach their maximum extension in 1983 reaching 11 hectares.
